Canapes is the time after the wedding ceremony, when the family photos have completed, before dinner. This is often when the bridal party will go for photos before everyone meets back at the wedding reception venue later.
Choosing music for this time of the wedding is important for setting the scene and providing a great atmosphere for everyone catching up and enjoying time with friends and family. Not too laid back (save those for dinner time) and not the good dancefloor songs for later in the night – basically the inbetween ones.
We have several selections below to give you an idea of possible music to use for wedding canapes, or even use a mix of all, which is sometimes best in order to please as many guests as possible.
New Zealand Music (Kiwi artists like Tiki Taane, Fat Freddys Drop, Shapeshifter, Gin Wigmore, Crowded House, Six60, Blackseeds)
Vitamin String Quartet or Piano Guys (Acoustic Piano or string versions of great bands always work well at this time.
Jazz – (Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Stan Getz, Chet Baker, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker)
Latin – (Buena Vista Social Club, Gypsy Kings, etc)
Various Contemporary Artists – Basically just music that everybody knows (Toto, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Ben Harper, Bill Withers, John Legend, Queen, Taylor Swift, etc)
